Propulsion, Power, and ECLSS Supply Chain Leader

Vast is looking for an Propulsion, Power and ECLSS Systems Supply Chain Lead, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Quality and Supply Chain, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with Propulsion, Power and ECLSS teams to understand their product roadmap. Lead and orchestrate the roadmap reviews between engineering and suppliers, find solutions, create proposals, and implement to meet business requirements, striking a balance between supply continuity, cost, and delivery.
  • Investigate and source next generation technology, provide technical expertise, special knowledge and market trends to engineering, including driving value engineering through ideation and execution.
  • Serve as the Components and Propulsion Supply Chain leader for all demand.  Define, implement, and manage the end-to-end value stream for all Vast Space Components and Propulsion demand.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Customers to develop and manage a best-in-class and optimized Components and Propulsion supply base that exceeds Vast’s unique requirements; including technical, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with Vast Supplier Quality to develop and implement a strategic sourcing program that identifies opportunities for strategic sourcing, and develops and monitors underperforming Components and Propulsion  suppliers.
  • Continue to lead, grow and mentor the Components and Propulsion Sourcing organization, including engaging in long-term organizational design, team building and hiring, retention and continuous training.
  • Leverage best practices to drive improved quality, delivery excellence, and continually reduce costs and improve the products and services for our customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering discipline 
  • At least 10 years of experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Engineering and/or Supplier Quality 
  • Advanced project management skills and the ability to influence change across a multi-disciplinary operation
  • Knowledge of quality/manufacturing processes especially with Components and Propulsion product categories.
  • Strong background in supply chain, either in Demand Planning, Commodity Management or Strategic Sourcing, with a complete understanding of the end-to-end demand identification through fulfillment process.
  • Ability to operate both strategically, tactically and operationally in a fast-paced environment; builds scalable systems and processes, rather than just addressing single issues.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

Pay Range: 

  • Manager, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain: $100,000 - $145,000
  • Sr Manager, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain: $130,000 - $186,000
  • Director, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain: $155,000 - $215,000

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. This status includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and asylees and refugees with such status granted, not pending.
