Job Description

Pay Rate: $100000 to a maximum of $120000 Per Year.

Position Purpose:

The Manager of Billing and Payments is responsible for the strategic thought leadership and continuous
improvements of all aspects of the utility's billing and payment operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency,
and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong leader who can implement
process improvements, and work collaboratively with other departments to maintain excellent customer
service and financial integrity.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and optimize Meter to Cash processes for high-quality, accurate, and timely billing.
  • Collaborate with business units and SMEs to improve end-to-end billing and payment processes.
  • Partner with technology teams to implement automation and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with billing and payment laws, regulations, and state-specific requirements.
  • Review and align billing and payment procedures with best-in-class standards.
  • Coach and guide teams to meet performance targets and organizational objectives.
  • Analyze billing and payment data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide monthly analytics for strategic decision-making.
  • Support initiatives to enhance employee and customer experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement through system performance monitoring and process enhancement.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for operational effectiveness.
  • Implement change management strategies for new programs and initiatives.
  • Identify and integrate enhanced service offerings through third-party vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Serve as backup to Senior Director when needed.

Work Environment:

  • Spends most of time in an office environment.
  • Possible Work Hazards: Must take care in moving or lifting office supplies. Infrequent exposure to plant hazards including noise, heavy equipment, fumes and chemicals.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of overall billing, payments, credit or collections experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Expertise in various Billing and Payment systems.
  • Develop strategies to drive performance and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels and functions.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Proficient with Google products and presentation software.
  • Foster high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
  • Optimize payment processing systems and workflows.
  • Anticipate and adapt to future payment method changes.
  • Manage complex projects within tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in process and controls improvements.
  • Technical proficiency and business intelligence.
  • Self-starter with leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Develop effective training strategies and solutions.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job:

  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
