The Associate, RF Systems Research Engineer at Vorbeck will support the design, development, and optimization of RF systems applying fundamental knowledge in RF communications and system modeling. The ideal candidate will work with a team to model and simulate antenna performance, develop signaling solutions, and assist in various stages of product development from concept through to testing and deployment. This position offers an opportunity to grow technical expertise while contributing to innovative RF solutions.
RF System Design and Simulation: Assist in the design and modeling of RF system components incorporating graphene-based antennas radiating a variety of signal modulations. Predict RF wave propagation patterns using tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL, CST Studio, and/or HFSS.
Signaling Solution Development: Support the development and optimization of signaling solutions outside of the LTE/5G and Wi-Fi bands. Specific frequencies of interest will be between 3 MHz and 6 GHz.
Antenna Modeling and Optimization: Utilize simulation tools to model and optimize graphene-based antenna performance, ensuring effective integration with a variety of RF system components.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineers and other team members to integrate RF solutions into larger systems, ensuring fulfillment of Vorbeck customer technical requirements.
Field Testing and Validation: Assist in the writing and execution of test plans that evaluate as well as validate the performance of antennas and other RF system components. Assist in troubleshooting performance issues and optimizing end-to-end system performance in real-world conditions.
Research and Support: Conduct basic research to identify and propose solutions for RF system challenges, staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Documentation and Reporting: Document design processes, test results, and research findings clearly and effectively for internal use and reporting.
Other tasks may be required, including giving external technical presentations, technical support for proposals, etc.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in RF system design, simulation, and/or testing, preferably in an academic or industry setting.
Experience with MATLAB, COMSOL, CST Studio, HFSS, or similar RF design and simulation tools.
Knowledge of RF signaling outside of LTE/5G or Wi-Fi, particularly in the 3 MHz to 6 GHz range.
Familiarity with antenna design and modeling, modulation techniques, and electromagnetic wave propagation.
Experience in field testing and system performance validation.
Strong knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory standards in RF telecommunications.
Skills and Abilities

Knowledge in graphene applications, design, and printable electronics is a significant advantage.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements across commercial, aerospace, government, and defense sectors.
Able to obtain or already possess a security clearance with the US DoD

Physical Setting/work location: In-Office
Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000, based on experience.
Clearance Level: This position requires that the candidate be capable of receiving a US DoD Secret-level security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active SCI-level Clearance.
