Staff Software Engineer/Tech Lead Manager - Full Stack Operational Tools

Zoox is looking for a Technical Lead to found a new team chartered with developing a powerful platform and corresponding infrastructure to enable cross-organizational collaboration for our highly dynamic operations roles.

As the founder of the team, you will take this initiative from 0 to 1. Your contributions will have immediate, outsized impact by virtue of immediately delivering value to our entire suite of tooling, rather than individual products. Your work will form the foundation on which all our tools will build and is critical to our transition to operational maturity.

Make no mistake: this role is big. You’ll work across teams, encounter new technologies nearly daily, need to devise big, complex architectures, and be fearless in driving high impact changes for Zoox.

• Own core technologies that are used across multiple teams, ensuring that they are reliable, available, performant and effective.
• Collaborate extensively with partner teams, and cross-functional partners to evolve these investments over time to address newfound needs and enhance their functionality.
• Architect highly scalable and reliable systems.
• Anticipate future needs and drive a roadmap to ensure we’re delivering on Zoox’s future needs as well as our needs today.
• Drive strategic investments to solve immediate, acute problems such as delivering distributed simulation for software validation and realizing step function improvements in operational efficiency.

• 10+ YOE and Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Development experience with a modern web-based stack, distributed systems, modern cloud infrastructure, C++, and databases.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, set direction, make effective short/long-term tradeoffs, and iterate on solutions.
• Experience with system design and building products from scratch.

• Advanced degree or certification
• Experience operating mission critical APIs and services at scale.
• People management experience.

Compensation:

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $245,000 to $315,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
