American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metal and critical materials technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant is the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separation, chemical extraction, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.
ABOUT THE JOB
ABTC has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Quality professional to join our growing team. Our Quality Lead will develop, implement, and routinely evaluate ABTC Quality Programs to ensure the organization’s production operations meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by company leadership. This includes IQC, IPQC, FQC, and OQC. The ideal candidate is someone who has set up quality management systems in a start-up environment, leveraging industry best practices. This position requires a knack for details, a keen eye to catch defects, data accuracy to prevent quality issues, expert skills in troubleshooting, and the capacity to both use and implement multiple software systems. Responsibilities- Owns all incoming inspection of materials to ABTC facilities
- Train employees on work instructions, procedures, and hands-on functions, documenting training records. Be the subject matter expert for inspection for all the sites and products incoming to ABTC
- Develop and maintain Quality control standards, ensuring consistent application at receiving locations and through staff training.
- Builds and develops the ABTC Quality Management System and delivers on relevant ISO certifications, e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45000, ISO 14001 etc.
- Drive resource alignment and inspector capabilities for: Incoming/Receiving Material Inspection, In-process inspection, End-of-line Inspection, material containment, and MRB inspection operations.
- Monitor processes to identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with other managers/departments to ensure product is delivered on time
- Ensure inspection areas follow processes and best practices associated with inspection work instructions, procedures, and tools.
- Collaborate with Engineering in the creation of inspection plans for incoming materials, parts, and assemblies from suppliers and monitor their compliance
- Utilize Lean Principles to improve key KPIs/Processes such as On-Time Delivery and Product Quality
- Works closely to manage the acceptance and rejection process at inventory control, shipping, receiving and materials storage.
- Controls the gates for each area of raw materials, packaging and finished goods inventory to ensure the quality of finished products within customer timelines.
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the data within the plant’s quality management and inventory systems
- Collaborates with the business development and purchasing departments to manage the return, remediation, and resolution of quality issues relating to the delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations or related field of study
- Strong understanding and experience with Statistical Process Control and data analysis
- 8+ years of progress Quality and/or Regulatory experience within the Battery or Energy industry
- 5+ years of experience working in a management role
- Basic knowledge of budgetary process
- Strong understanding of ISO9001 & 14001 Quality Management System requirements
- Prior exposure to the manufacture of electronic components for Battery or Battery recycling applications
- Write and update standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Perform data collection and statically analysis on the data to drive decisions
- Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of Quality Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Expert level experience using ERP systems.
Physical Demands- Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods.
- Ability to walk throughout the plant.
- Ability to bend at the waist.
- Ability to lift assisted over 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to wear PPE which includes but not limited to the following: eye and face protection, hearing protections, respirators, and protective shoes and shoe coverings.
- Must have 20/20 or corrected vision.
- Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals for extended periods of time.
