Overview

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join the rapidly growing Debt Team at Bellwether, with a focus on commercial real estate-related structured products (CMBS, SASB, CRE CLO, etc). The ideal candidate is a savvy problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment and consistently exceeds expectations. We are seeking an agile team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with different parts of the organization.


An ideal candidate will have experience with fixed income products, commercial RE asset management, and servicer / special servicer oversight. Successful candidates for this position will have had at least two to five years of relevant professional experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the proactive monitoring and management of a portfolio of CMBS / SASB investments
  • Monitor and analyze performance at the collateral and bond level. This includes surveillance of credit events via remittance data, bond rating actions, and news publications
  • Coordinate re-underwritings and reforecast bond investment cashflows. Assess merits of hold vs. sell decisions
  • Liaise with special servicers, master servicers and trustees to ensure appropriate actions are taken on behalf of Bellwether’s clients
  • Manage a variety of data sources to enhance efficiency of underwriting and surveillance. Data sources include: Intex, CoStar, Bloomberg, Trepp, and Axiometrics
  • Participate in the underwriting process by evaluating investment strengths and weaknesses through the development of financial metrics, models and sensitivities
  • Prepare a comprehensive investment submission and communicate conclusions and investment risk in a narrative presentation to Senior Management
  • Assist with ad hoc requests


Professional Experience
  • Fixed income experience, including portfolio management of CMBS positions, familiarity with fixed income analysis tools, and price/yield analytics
  • Familiarity with relational data structure across the deal, loan, property, and tenant levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Intex
  • Experience with property underwriting and advanced financial modeling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with superior organizational skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and quickly understand new concepts
  • Desire to work as a part of a small, highly entrepreneurial team


Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field of study / work experience equivalence required.

Travel Requirements
  • Travel is not anticipated but may be needed from time to time.

$140,000 - $140,000 a year
$140,000 base, plus discretionary bonus
Offered salary is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
