Assistant Director of Wholesale Distribution

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Divison, is looking for an Assistant Director of Wholesale Distribution to join our team. This position works collaboratively with National Marketing to provide leadership and coordination of the company’s sales and marketing functions through the wholesale distribution channel. The role supports business growth within the wholesale distribution network by developing and maintaining relationships with key national wholesale brokers, identifying new market opportunities, and enhancing distribution strategies. Additionally, this individual will work closely with local Marketing Managers and the Marketing Leadership team to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, monitor and analyze sales performance and market trends, and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives to drive profitable growth with wholesale partners.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Relies on experience, judgment, instructions, and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions and achieve results. Takes a proactive approach to anticipating and solving problems. Works independently with minimal supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Directs and leads the work of others through collaboration with Territory Marketing Managers, regional underwriting teams, and colleagues in other service departments.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Leadership team to set production goals and monitor progress for wholesale partnerships.
  • Directly manage key national wholesale relationships through regular in-person and virtual meetings, including ongoing communication with key leadership and executive management.
  • Share relevant information and reports with strategic partners, including production and profitability data, target appetite, new products and services, company initiatives, and industry/market intelligence.
  • Research and develop strategies and agency planning in conjunction with field marketing staff to identify drivers of success and areas for improvement in relationship management.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, submission activity, and overall results from the wholesale distribution network, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Facilitate communication between field marketing, underwriting, and other service departments regarding wholesale distribution partnerships.
  • Represent the company at various community and business meetings to promote its brand and initiatives.
  • Participate in the development, preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotional programs.
  • Promote positive relationships with internal and external partners, vendors, and distributors.
  • Provide the Marketing Leadership team with insights on significant developments within the wholesale network and competitive intelligence to inform strategy and direction.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree for a four year college or university, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in progressively responsible Sales or Marketing leadership roles in the financial services industry, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry and leadership experience, required.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret complex legal documents such as contracts. Ability to issue written and verbal directives, reports, and other communications to be received by direct reports, others at all levels of the organization, and external customers. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, internal customers, and external customers representative of all levels of an organization.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to create and decipher complex formulas relative to basic actuarial performance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis at both specific and abstract levels. Ability to disseminate instructions that generate compliance by anticipating the needs and abilities of the target audience. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple complex variables, both concrete and abstract, in standardized as well as fluid and unique situations.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft word processing software, Microsoft spreadsheet software, and ability to be proficient on applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs.

The above reflects the expected salary range for this position. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
