Operations Analyst (Berkshire United)

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies has an immediate need for an Operations Analyst to assist our Finance team in our Omaha office. This individual will provide administrative support to the package policy operations team, including the review of broker submissions for completeness, and creates, edits, and tracks Berkshire United package submissions in the package management system. This individual provides billing and accounting support to business segments and serves and the primary liaison between brokers, underwriters, and operations staff in navigating the package policy lifecycle from initial submission to renewal.


Reports to the Director of Financial Operations.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
  • Provides administrative support to the package policy operations team.
  • Reviews broker submissions for completeness and contacts brokers for additional information related to package submissions.
  • Creates, edits, and tracks Berkshire United package submissions in the package management system.
  • Reviews and analyzes package quotes.
  • Uploads and mails policy documents as needed to ensure a complete presentation to the market.


ACCOUNTING SUPPORT
  • Provides billing and accounting support to business segments.
  • Monitors the cask application process.
  • Downloads banking information and provides necessary information to relevant teams.
  • Provides documentation on the proper assignment of cash receipts to the various package policy JV affiliates.
  • Receives and analyzes unapplied cash.
  • Contacts payees to identify payment intent and communicates needed corrections.
  • Communicates and provides supporting documentation for intercompany fund transfer based on payments received.


ANALYTICAL SUPPORT
  • Supports business units in the analysis of package policy JV results.
  • Reviews and coordinates analysis across across segments, departments, and lines of business, including premium, losses, and underwriting expenses.
  • Performs various financial and operational projects as assigned.
  • Researches relevant methodologies and provides results of the analysis to senior staff.


CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • Serves as the primary liaison between brokers, underwriters, and operations staff in navigating the package policy lifecycle from initial submission to renewal.
  • Receives and responds to customer inquiries regarding the submission process, package request statutes, retrieval of policy, and billing documents. Efficiently and accurately responds to questions regarding billing, cash application, payments, commission, claims, and other carrier-specific services.
  • Collaborates with teams in San Francisco, Boston, Omaha, and Delhi, serving as a facilitator in driving ongoing process improvement and simplification of workflows.


WORKFLOW MONITORING
  • Ensures the accuracy of workflows, package statuses, and overall data integrity within JV package operations.
  • Ensures the monitoring of controls and communication of any issues to management.


OTHER DUTIES
  • Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned by company leadership or as situation dictates.
  • Serves as a change agent and as a member of the BHHC Finance Team in driving ongoing process improvement in compliance and efficiency.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business, Statistics, Finance, or Accounting from four-year college or university.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and professional business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers. clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, this individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and have the ability to become proficient on applicable databases, systems, and vendor software programs.

$47,130 - $60,210 a year
This pay scale is an estimate of the salary range the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations consistent with applicable law. The actual salary may be above or below the range. The pay scale applies only to this position and only if it is filled in Omaha, Nebraska. The pay scale may be different for other positions or in other locations.
