Digital Transformation Programmer/Analyst

Blue Ocean Barns has successfully transitioned the cultivation of the tetrasporophyte phase of Asparagopsis taxiformis (a red macroalgae) from the laboratory to outdoor production. The Company is currently expanding outdoor cultivation in our first international site located in Baja, Mexico.

As a Digital Transformation Programmer/Analyst, you will lead our internal software development, including programming automated workflows and optimizing business processes. You will work with stakeholders across the organization, managing projects, timelines, and software planning while ensuring security and scalability. 

We have a strong preference for candidates located within commuting distance to our office in Sorrento Valley in San Diego, California. However, we are open to candidates that live elsewhere in the state.

• Internal Software Development
• Reviewing business processes to identify areas where technology could improve or enable workflows.
• Gathering business requirements and working with stakeholders to define project scope.
• Managing project timelines.
• Building and maintaining web applications that improve or enable defined business processes using Google Apps Script, React, HTML and CSS.
• Building and maintaining automations using Airtable, Google Apps Script, Google Cloud Run and other platforms.
• Conducting testing and handing off finalized software products to stakeholders.
• Creating documentation as necessary.
• Enterprise Scale Planning
• Reviewing third-party software to ensure it serves established business objectives and future goals.
• Investigating possible security concerns.
• Creating software implementation strategies for internal and external systems that keep up with expected growth.  
• Overseeing the implementation process of internal and external systems.
• Performing administrative duties and long-term oversight as necessary.
• Airtable Administration
• Onboarding new employees with Airtable access.
• Termination of accounts when employees leave.
• Setting appropriate permissions per user.
• Oversight of invoices and billing.
• Airtable Data Maintenance
• Archiving and backup of relevant data.
• Designing, conducting and improving data audits and quality checks.
• Correcting data entry mistakes as necessary.
• Improving table and field descriptions.
• Modifying Airtable interfaces as production flows change.

• Required Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in front-end development. Specifically, we are looking for proven experience in HTML, CSS, and React. 
• Strong expertise in back-end JavaScript development.
• Demonstrated experience in business systems analysis, including process evaluation and optimization.
• Proven ability to gather and analyze technical and functional requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. 
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Google Apps Script, particularly in web application development and deployment. 
• Familiarity with Google APIs and their integration into business applications.
• Experience in supporting Airtable within an organization, including automation and account management.
• Experience in UI/UX design.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform development and system administration.
• Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to problem-solve and drive continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional setting.
• Experience in high-growth companies / start-ups is preferred.
