Job Description

Working under the direction of the Partner responsible for Growth Strategy, the Client Engagement Lead is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the firm through strategic business development, client acquisition, and relationship management. This individual takes the lead in identifying and securing new business opportunities, fostering long-term relationships with prospects and clients most specifically within Indigenous organizations and entities as well as values-based firms.

Working closely with the Leadership Team and our Service Delivery Team to shape and execute the firm’s growth strategies, the Client Engagement Lead ensures that the firm’s growth strategy execution is aligned with the evolving needs of the market, positioning the firm as a trusted advisor and industry leader.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Development:

  • Support the development and implement the firm’s business development strategy in line with the overall growth objectives and market positioning.
  • Identify new business opportunities in target industries and sectors, leveraging market intelligence, industry trends, and client feedback.
  • Build a robust pipeline of opportunities by leveraging industry knowledge, networks, and relationships with leaders, organizations, and stakeholders, most significantly within indigenous organizations and communities.
  • Oversee the development and present tailored proposals, solutions, and strategies that align with the unique needs and priorities of our clients and prospects.

Relationship Building & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with key prospects, clients, senior executives, and decision-makers across diverse industries and sectors.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client/prospect needs to make tailored recommendations and position the firm’s expertise to address specific client challenges.
  • Ensure the firm’s services deliver measurable results, fostering long-term, mutually beneficial relationships and delivering exceptional service.
  • Engage in meaningful dialogue to identify opportunities for collaboration, sustainable development, and capacity building, while respecting clients and prospects’ context, cultures, values, and traditions.

Lead Generation & Sales:

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and pursue new business leads through networking, referrals, and direct outreach to potential clients.
  • Generate new business through outbound sales efforts, including calls, email campaigns, and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with the marketing specialist to develop and execute campaigns, materials, and messaging that resonate with our target clients.
  • Close sales and negotiate contracts with clients.

Proposal Development & Bid Management:

  • Lead the creation of high-quality, tailored proposals, RFP responses, and presentations that align with client needs and expectations.
  • Work closely with the internal Consulting and Service Delivery teams to ensure proposals are comprehensive, compelling, and reflective of Boreala capabilities and solutions.

Networking & Representation:

  • Represent the firm at key Indigenous-focused industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation.
  • Participate in community outreach and capacity-building initiatives that align with the firm’s mission and values.
  • Build strategic partnerships with other organizations, businesses and entities that are involved with Indigenous clients and communities.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Service Delivery and Consulting teams to align business development activities with the firm’s strategic goals and capabilities.
  • Work in close collaboration with Service Delivery and Consulting teams to ensure the seamless execution of new client engagements.
  • Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership by sharing insights and feedback from prospects and events to enhance service offerings.

Reporting & Performance Tracking:

  • Track and report on business development activities through the use of Salesforce.
  • Maintain a pipeline of opportunities in Salesforce, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking of sales performance against established targets.
  • Regularly provide updates to Partner of Growth Strategy on progress, challenges, and opportunities, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure reporting and performance tracking are aligned with overall data management and date analysis mechanisms to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise:

  • 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or client management within the consulting or professional services industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully generating new business and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, history, and contemporary issues an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse Indigenous communities and understanding their unique governance structures and decision-making processes an asset.
  • Advanced sales skills, including lead generation, negotiating, and closing deals, as well as a deep understanding of the sales lifecycle in consulting services.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop business development plans that align with both the firm’s and our clients’ objectives.
  • Ability to cultivate trust and maintain positive, long-lasting relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals, presentations, and client communications.
  • Ability to present confidently to senior executives and key stakeholders, articulating the firm’s value proposition clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with senior leaders.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong proficiency in CRM systems, sales automation tools, to track opportunities and manage client relationships.
  • Knowledge of digital tools and marketing platforms to aid in business development efforts.
