Summer Camp Coordinator

The Summer Camp Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all aspects of summer camp programming at Salt Lake Bouldering Project. This role includes working closely with the General Manager to support behind-the-scenes programs administration, and providing exemplary leadership through direct instruction of programs.  Effective communication with staff, management, gym guests, youth participants, and families is at the core of the position. The Summer Camp Coordinator will model excellent instruction and customer service, help hire and train summer camp staff, and support the growth of counselor staff through feedback and coaching.

• Support the development of fun and innovative camp programming and curriculum, including climbing and non-climbing focused activities.
• Communicate with participants, parents, staff, and councilors to ensure program quality. 
• Promote BP’s values and maintain staff motivation and growth through coaching, training, and modeling.
• Serve as a key resource for procedures and policies, ensuring they are executed appropriately.

• Model excellent facilitation, communication, and leadership while collaborating with councilors.
• Provide ongoing feedback to youth, their families, and the General Manager regarding the needs and concerns of camp participants. 
• Regularly communicate with the public about camp programming via email, phone, and face-to-face.

• Actively promote risk mitigation through ongoing instruction and orientation. 
• Work under the guidance of the General Manager to proactively respond to youth safety concerns or behavioral issues.
• Ensure the safety of participants, staff, and customers through group organization and oversight. 
• Support incident reporting, emergency scenario and general safety reviews.

• Availability during camp hours and as needed.
• Experience teaching and guiding youth.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• High energy, team oriented, organized, and strong customer service.
• Ability to lead others and coach behavior

• 5-15 hrs/wk through April
• 15-20 hrs/wk in May
• Full time June 1st - August 15th
• Possibility to transition to another role at the conclusion of Summer Camp
