Transportation Resident Construction Manager

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, has an immediate hiring need for a Transportation Resident Construction Manager for work on a large Heavy-Highway construction project. This is a multi-year project with the PA Turnpike Commission (King of Prussia MP 280 - 320 area of the PA Turnpike). PennDOT District – 6.

The Transportation Resident Construction Manager (RCM) is responsible for overseeing construction inspection staff, consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. The RCM oversees preparation of daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payment.  Compensation commensurate with experience but will exceed typical regional Supervisor and Manager rates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.

·         Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.

·         Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.

·         Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.

·         Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.

·         Review/Route Submittals and RFIs (electronically).

·         Keep records of quantities completed for contractor payment.

·         Process Change Orders.

·         Effective oral and written communication.

·         Follow and convey instructions.

·         Utilize computers and common office equipment.

·         Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

·         Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.

·         React to hazardous warnings and signals.

·         Infrequently perform manual labor.

·         Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.

·         Limited exposure to chemicals.

 

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

·         Daily travel to the project job site (King of Prussia MP 280 - 320 area of the PA Turnpike) as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.

·         Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.

·         Oversee inspection staff and provide direction and mentoring as required to less experienced staff.

·         Other duties which may be required, which are commensurate with the position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

·         High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education and can read, write, and clearly communicate in English and perform basic math computations associated with Heavy Highway construction projects.

·         10+ Years of Construction Management/Inspection experience.

 

The following certifications and experience preferred:

·         Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission construction inspection experience

·         NICET Level IV in Transportation/Highway Construction or PE License in Pennsylvania

·         NECEPT Bituminous field technician certification

·         ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products & Adobe or BlueBeam

·         PA Turnpike Commission Kahua experience

·         OSHA 10-Hour certification
