About the Role: The Quality Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that meet customer and regulatory standards. This position requires a strong leader with excellent communication skills who can oversee quality processes, perform inspections, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. The Quality Lead is responsible for fostering a culture of quality, ensuring compliance with standards, and driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership to the Quality Assurance team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Train and mentor new employees on quality processes, standard work, and procedures.
- Cover departmental vacancies as needed to ensure seamless operations.
- Conduct receiving inspections on all incoming materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Generate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
- Oversee inspection activities across the facility, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Assist in the creation, evaluation, and enhancement of processes to produce products that meet or exceed requirements.
- Create, implement, and maintain standard work and procedures to promote consistency and efficiency.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues by performing root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor and measure performance and efficiencies throughout the facility.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve quality and productivity.
- Assist in material replenishment on the operating floor to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Research and communicate with required personnel to ensure timely procurement of materials and supplies.
- Notify and email relevant personnel regarding quality issues, material needs, or procedural updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality challenges and drive solutions.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in quality management or engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality assurance role, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in performing inspections using standard measuring tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with quality management software or ERP systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
- May require occasional travel between facilities or to vendor locations.
- Flexibility to cover shifts and respond to urgent quality issues as needed.
