Your Mission: 

The Employment Counselor plays a crucial role in guiding clients toward achieving their employment and career goals. By providing comprehensive employment consultations, the Counselor helps clients navigate the job market and identify opportunities that align with their skills and aspirations. This role involves developing individualized training plans, preparing clients for job placements, and fostering relationships with employers to secure employment opportunities. The Employment Counselor also actively participates in outreach and community engagement, promoting program services and contributing to CASL’s mission of empowering clients through sustainable employment. This position reports to the Social Benefits and Employment Coordinator.

Your Impact: 

As an Adult Employment Counselor, you will: 

• Provide tailored employment consultation to clients, addressing both short-term employment and long-term career goals. 
• Develop and implement individualized pre-employment/pre-vocational training plans for clients, enhancing their readiness for the job market. 
• Identify employment goals for each client and match their background, skills, and interests with suitable job openings, ensuring timely job placement. 
• Accompany clients to job interviews, offering support and assistance to increase their chances of success. 
• Maintain strong relationships with existing employers while developing new contacts to expand job opportunities for clients. 
• Organize, implement, and conduct pre-employment workshops, creating and updating materials to meet evolving client needs. 
• Enter client records and case notes into Salesforce in a timely manner, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation to support transparency and data-informed decision-making. 
• Enter and maintain accurate data in Career Connect, ECM, or similar Client Management Systems (CMS) in a timely manner. 
• Complete monthly and quarterly reports/vouchers for related programs, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and meets program requirements. 
• Present and promote program services to individuals, organizations, and at community events, conducting outreach and marketing efforts to enhance program visibility. 
• Assist other team members with caseloads and provide backup support as needed. 
• Attend at least 8 hours of job-related training annually to stay informed about industry trends and enhance professional skills. 
• Contribute to additional responsibilities as needed to support the Adult Service department’s initiatives and overall organizational goals, ensuring flexibility and alignment with CASL’s evolving needs. 

• An associate degree is required, along with at least 4 years of work experience, or a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, with at least 5 years of related work experience. 
• Strong interest in working with clients of all ages, demonstrating empathy and cultural sensitivity 
• Bilingual proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese preferred, Mandarin and/or Toishanese a plus), Spanish a plus 
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment, with the ability to adjust to changing client needs and program requirements. 
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and find creative solutions to client challenges and service delivery obstacles. 
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel), data entry and web navigation 

• Basic end-user level understanding and experience with Salesforce is a plus. 

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional lifting or moving of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. 
• Required to sit for extended periods of time and travel by car.  

• Work is performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility to work additional hours in the evenings or weekends, as necessary. 
• Work is performed in various settings including the office, offsite locations, clients’ homes, and outdoor environments. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

This position offers an hourly rate of $18.80–$19.70, reflective of experience and qualifications.
