Jewish Life Coordinator and Kosher Kitchen Supervisor (Mashgiach)

Role Overview
This position is unique as it will have the dual role of serving as the Jewish Student Life Coordinator and the Kosher Kitchen Supervisor, Mashgiach. Due to the kosher regulations and the needs of this position, this position must be a certified Mashgiach within one year of hire. To become a certified Mashgiach, the individual must be knowledgeable and observant of kosher dietary laws. This position has the opportunity to make a significant impact on Jewish student life through strategic planning, relationship building, innovative programming and ensuring Kosher options for students.
What You’ll Do
As the Jewish Student Life Coordinator, you will:
- Expand existing programs and systemized operations
- Foster connections with other student organizations, faculty, and staff.
- Lead outreach efforts, engaging with incoming students and maintain relationships with current students
- Assist with fundraising activities
- Promote and attend Hillel and Harris center events.
As the Kosher Kitchen Supervisor, you will:
- Serve as the Mashgiach and oversee kosher kitchen operations
- Actively engage in culinary production through hands-on cooking and food preparation with the critical responsibility of maintaining kosher certification and compliance.
Ensuring the highest standards of quality and tradition, the Mashgiach will bring expertise and leadership to the kitchen, fostering an environment that values both exceptional culinary execution and adherence to kosher practices. This position is instrumental in creating an inclusive dining experience that meets the needs of the university’s diverse community.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred. Must be able to receive Mashgiach certification within one year of hire. Experience in food production and deep knowledge of Kosher laws. Due to Mashgiach responsibilities, the successful candidate must observant of kosher dietary laws. Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain by passing the Safety and Sanitation test.
· Ability to maintain kosher standards in a kitchen setting.
· Competence in culinary techniques and food production.
· Familiarity with food safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in culinary arts or a related field. Prior experience as a mashgiach or in a kosher-certified kitchen.
· Advanced understanding of kosher certification processes.
· Leadership experience in a culinary or kosher kitchen environment
