Civil Service Title- Administrative Engineer

Serves as Director of the Bridge Repair Unit in the Bureau of Maintenance, Inspection & Operations. Oversees all activities pertaining to the emergency and routine repair by in-house forces of all city-owned and maintained tunnels, bridges, and other elevated structures. Directs the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical bridge components. Supervises a large and varied staff of engineers, skilled trades and administrative employees. Oversees analytical systems to track and improve the efficiency of bridge repair programs. Coordinates the work of the unit with other agencies, divisions and governmental entities. Ensures the unit's compliance with all applicable safety standards. Oversees the review of reconstruction and rehabilitation plans to ensure future maintenance ability. Directs the deployment, both routine and emergency of all personnel and material resources. Performs other related administrative and technical duties.
Preferred skills
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. To be appointed to an Administrative Engineer position in the Division of Bridges, candidates must possess two years of experience in supervising engineers in Bridge Design, Bridge Construction, Bridge Maintenance or Bridge Inspection. A current New York State Professional Engineer registration certificate must be presented at the time of appointment and must be maintained for the duration of employment.

1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.
