Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform purchasing-related functions, including budget tracking, reports and miscellaneous expenditures for the Borough of Staten Island.
- Provide support with coordinating, processing and tracking purchase requests. Submit receiving reports as required.
- Research and prepare requisitions for goods and services in accordance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Balance invoices, shippers, purchase orders and requests. Track backorders and pending shipments and prepare receiving reports.
- Balance monthly credit card statements with corresponding receipts and receiving reports; prepare monthly credit card reports for Purchasing and Accounting.
- Assist with managing the Borough Operations OTPS (Other Than Personal Services) budget.
- Track budget codes and prepare budget modifications as needed. Track and analyze OTPS spending and trends; submit corresponding weekly reports.
- Work with Accounts Payable to monitor open purchase orders and set up budget accruals and charge backs.
- Prepare recommendations for distribution of the annual OTPS budget among various codes.
- Manage blanket and specific purchase orders for goods, rentals and services.
- Collect and manage receiving reports prepared by others and submit to central Purchasing & Accounting. Notify and return any unsatisfactory deliveries.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
