NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
The Finance Information Technology (FIT) Division designs, builds, and supports all facets of DOF’s computer systems, including hardware, software, applications, infrastructure, telephone, and data security. FIT delivers and administers tax-related payment programs for the City of New York by providing the information technology solutions needed to achieve its mission of collecting revenue while ensuring an efficient and improved customer experience. FIT is also responsible for the systems and websites which enable citywide payments, land records, property assessment, parking adjudications, customer service, and the Sheriff’s public safety work.
A project management internship in the Department of Finance offers a wealth of opportunities for both personal and professional growth. This position will give you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with different facets of the software development lifecycle building a DevOps strategy and an enterprise testing framework. In this role, you will learn about innovative projects operating in a Fin Tech organization providing market-leading solutions for the City of New York. This role not only provides a strong foundation in project management principles but also equips the you with skills that are transferable to various other career paths.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Develop project activation plans outlining tasks, timelines and resource requirements
- Maintain and communicate project changes, risks and dependencies across different departments in the City of New York
- Track and manage key business outcomes and Key performance indicators
- Support the adoption of department DevOps strategy, integration tools and AI Models
- Document project workflows, findings, and recommendations.
- Participate in team meetings, shadow senior project managers on collaborations with different departments within the City of New York
