The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. TLC licenses and regulates over 130,000 vehicles and more than 175,000 drivers, making it the most active taxi and limousine regulatory agency in the United States. Aside from vehicles and drivers, TLC also regulates taxicab agents and for-hire vehicle bases, including popular app-based transportation services. The TLC plays a pivotal role in furthering public safety within New York City and is a lead agency in a citywide effort to reduce traffic-related injuries. One of the largest components of TLC’s operations is the enforcement of agency and administrative code regulations.
The Prosecution Division investigates and prosecutes all summonses issued by TLC which amounts to over 100,000 summonses each year. The Senior Supervising Attorney will provide instruction and feedback to prosecuting attorneys; overseeing the division’s processing and issuance of stipulations based upon individual and batch settlement requests; provide general guidance and monitor the performance of prosecuting attorneys assigned to the Settlements unit. The Senior Supervising Attorney will also oversee Prosecution's other sub-units as needed, and work together with two other Senior Supervising Attorneys, and several Supervising Attorneys on Unit needs and projects. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: managing the Settlements queue and email inbox; reviewing summonses; holding meetings and coaching sessions; staying updated on new rules, regulations, and policies; working with other TLC departments such as compliance and licensing; monitoring settlement offers and processing; preparing daily and weekly reports; meeting with representatives and attorneys for settlements and negotiations, and training new prosecutors and interns.
