In October 2021, we launched our new ‘Food Club & Opportunity Hub’ to expand efficient, impactful healthy food assistance with the on-site integration of other pathway programs. More recently, we announced a partnership with Dwelling Place to help address the affordable housing crisis here in Holland. In July 2023, we publicly launched our expansion of Lakeshore Food Rescue (www.lakeshorefoodrescue.org).

Position Details

Position Type: Full-time, Regular, 40 hours/week

Overtime Status: Exempt

Reports To: Senior Manager of Food Partnerships

Direct Reports: none

Department: Food Rescue & Partnerships

Primary Location: Food Club & Opportunity Hub

Compensation & Benefits: $19 - $20 hourly


Summary

The Food Rescue Coordinator is accountable for monitoring volunteer systems that drive volunteer attendance, daily management and experience. This role will also be responsible for managing the Food Rescue Hero App and acting as primary dispatch and technical support for volunteers.

This role contributes to the efficient movement of inbound and outbound food through the warehouse. This position supports the daily operations of the Food Rescue & Partnerships team by working closely with the team to ensure the movement of food is safe, organized and documented. 


Responsibilities & Essential Duties
  • Responsible for daily food rescue dispatch and volunteer monitoring via phone, email and Food Rescue Hero app, providing general troubleshooting and problem solving support with volunteers, pick ups, drop offs, and other issues as they arise. 
  • Coordinate daily with the Food Club Team, Logistics and Food Rescue & Partnerships teams for the collection, processing and distribution of food.
  • Rotate product and maintain inventory, FIFO, and proper food handling. 
  • Ensure food is properly stored in a timely and food safe manner (training for this role includes ServSafe or other food handling certification).
  • Assist in monitoring and validating timely and accurate data entry for all donated, rescued and purchased food. Help team prepare data for required weekly and quarterly reporting for Feeding America, annual tax receipts and ongoing updates within the Development team's CRM database. 
  • Organize food to be shared with partner organizations, alongside the Food Rescue Specialist.


Supervision Received
  • General Direction: Receives broad guidance and direction and has some autonomy in decision-making and flexibility in determining how to achieve goals. Supervisor provides support and resources as needed but may not be directly involved in day-to-day decision-making or task assignments.


Education & Experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience required 
  • High School Diploma required.  Some college preferred.; or in place of a degree, equivalent years of experience
  • ServSafe Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain in onboarding
  • Basic conversational Spanish proficiency desired


Qualifications
  • Passionate about promoting healthy food access.
  • Ability to prioritize member experience and manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, FIFO procedures and safe food handling.
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity in Google Workspace, and ability to use an Inventory and point of sale (POS) system preferred.
