This role may be based in NYC, DC, or Houston.
We seek a highly motivated, detail oriented, business-minded consultant with creativity, initiative, teamwork, and project management skills to help drive our crisis management and security consulting business.
The role of Associate Director, Crisis and Security Consulting is that of a fee-earning consultant who will be expected to market, sell and deliver security consulting and broader risk management consulting engagements.
Tasks and responsibilities
Client Delivery
- Work with other team members to collaboratively assist clients in solving complex security risk problems and crafting flexible and sustainable organizational approaches.
- Act as an engagement leader and project manager for Control Risks’ security consulting projects. This includes assessing, designing, implementing and improving corporate and global security and risk management programs, capabilities and practices.
- Provide clients with expert support and insights on security strategy, organizational structures, physical security, travel security, event security, executive protection programs, security training and awareness, security metrics and reporting as well as security incident management. Where possible, assist other leaders and project managers on broader Crisis and Security Consulting engagements in areas such as emergency management, crisis management, and business continuity.
- Work with client Executive leadership teams to ensure that business priorities are represented in our security solutions.
- Collaboratively scope complex and multidimensional security projects with our clients bringing in diverse Control Risks teams as appropriate.
- Conduct end-to-end project management of client engagements, including being the primary contact to the client and managing a delivery team.
- Manage engagement resourcing, budgets and invoicing.
Business Development
- Work closely with account managers in a consultative sales capacity to join existing client conversations as a subject matter expert and close new opportunities
- Establish relationships with new consulting clients and grow relationships with existing clients
Knowledge and experience
- Eight to 10 years of work experience in a global security organization or consulting firm.
- Experience in security program development and optimization.
- Experience in the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures.
- Experience in assessing and implementing physical, electronic, and technical security measures.
- Experience in managing critical security incidents.
- Experience in providing security training.
- Knowledge of best practices in security strategy, organizational structures, physical security, travel security, event security, executive protection programs, security training and awareness, security metrics and reporting as well as security incident management.
- Knowledge of data-driven approaches to security program optimization.
- Preferred: Experience in multiple industries and client operating environments
- Preferred: Experience in related areas of consulting (e.g., crisis management, business continuity, emergency management and enterprise risk management)
- Preferred: Experience with CTPAT and/or similar programs
- Preferred: ASIS CPP and/or PSP certified
Qualifications and specialist skills
- Master’s degree desirable
- Ability to travel 50-60% of the time and on short notice

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-$145,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
