Job Description

Overall responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the manufacturing processes (existing and new equipment installs).  Responsible for overseeing the completion of engineering projects on time and within budget.  Duties include hiring and training qualified engineering staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion.  Incumbent is a key contact to Sales and Marketing as well as the distributor and final consumer.

  • Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices to achieve best in class standard
  • Provide technical support to ensure the factory is operating safely, at the highest quality level and lowest possible cost
  • Support the plant achieving budgeted labor efficiency MPO/UPMH
  • Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of employees to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals
  • Develop and manage the plant capital and capacity plans ensuring on time and within budget
  • Develop all requirements for the annual budget, and support plant operations for successful achievement
  • Develop detailed plans for new processes and implementations
  • Participate and report out appropriately in daily leadership accountability and shift recap meetings
  • Drive continuous improvement actions and assist with implementation
  • Project manage automation, equipment and efficiency installations
  • Drive problem solving and countermeasure action from initiation to resolution of issues
  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with operations team to manage and implement engineering changes and process improvements
  • Hire, train, and monitor new direct reports to assist in process improvements. This includes coaching, counselling, and managing performance to achieve maximum results
  • Participates in interplant, cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical problems
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to manage multiple complex situations daily and deal with rapidly changing priorities
  • Actively participates and drives adherence to the Cornerstone Production System
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in an Engineering management role
  • 3+ years people leadership experience
  • Strong Project Management experience (capital and non-capital)
  • Ability to read / interpret technical blueprints and schematics
  • Lean skills including demonstrated capability with Kaizen, Standardized Work, VSM and Six Sigma Belt Certification (Green belt at a minimum, Black belt certification is a plus.)
  • Excellent problem solving and project management skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Certification by ASQ as a CQE, CQA, or CQM considered highly desirable
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Microsoft Project or equivalent, Visio, Sharepoint and statistical analysis software
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and people management skills
