Job Description

The Planning and Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing the centralized scheduling of production operations across multiple facilities and production lines. This role focuses on optimizing production workflows, ensuring on-time delivery, maximizing resource utilization, and maintaining efficient inventory management. The manager works closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, procurement, and logistics, to ensure that production schedules align with demand forecasts and business objectives.

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will monitor day to day scheduling activities providing direction, support, and accountability to team members ensuring production schedules meet our customer expectations (“Give a Date, Keep a Date”) and our corporate targets. The Planning and Scheduling Manager will also support the development of standardized scheduling processes across the US Apertures Group in conjunction with our Kinaxis software deployment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Active Change Agent and contributor in configuration, testing, and deployment of new Supply Chain Management Software, Kinaxis Maestro.
  • Collaborate with peers in the development of standardized scheduling processes across the US Apertures Group in conjunction with our Kinaxis software deployment.
  • Lead a team of 3-5 master schedulers in the in the development and execution of production schedules for multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Lead daily scheduling activities providing direction, support, and accountability to team members ensuring production schedules meet our customer expectations (“Give a Date, Keep a Date”) and corporate targets.
  • Formulates the master production plan that best achieves demand forecast, inventory objectives and customer requirements, and inputs for Make-to-Stock and Make-to-Order products.
  • Oversee the allocation of production resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to maximize production efficiency. Ensure that production capabilities meet forecasted demand while avoiding over- or under-utilization of resources.
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, inventory management, and logistics teams to ensure that production schedules are aligned with production capacity, raw material availability and shipping timelines. Including communication of production schedules, changes, and updates to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Track and analyze production performance against scheduled timelines, identifying any variances, delays, or bottlenecks. Proactively implement corrective actions to address any issues impacting production efficiency, such as equipment downtime, resource shortages, or supply chain disruptions to avoid customer disruptions (“Give a Date, Keep a Date”).
  • Analyze scheduling and production data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement to report on key organization metrics like on-time delivery, capacity utilization, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with operations and product management to maintain product sourcing rules (product options, key material and attributes) with plant-level capabilities within SCM system to facilitate timely, balanced distribution of sales orders and optimization of available capacity.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the scheduling process to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize production/logistics costs.
  • Assess monthly S&OP demand forecast (including “first-time” customers/special projects/large quantity demand, and product-option/key materials details), revise master schedule as required to align available capacity with customer expectations, and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Build bench strength within the USWG network through coaching, mentoring, training, and developing plant level schedulers across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related discipline required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in production scheduling, demand/supply planning, or comparable supply chain experience with an additional five (5) or more years in a supply chain, production planning and scheduling related leadership role
  • Experience planning and scheduling production within complex/ multi-site internal supply chain
  • Experience planning and scheduling within an organization with multiple ERP/ MES systems
  • Experience with SCM/ERP deployment highly desired
  • Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, Microsoft Project, or similar production planning tools), as well as a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Kinaxis RapidResponse/Maestro experience, preferred
  • Strong ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and optimize scheduling processes
  • Ability to resolve production scheduling conflicts and address challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure that production schedules are accurate and aligned with business objectives
  • Occasional travel required - 20% or more at times

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 - $120,000 + 10% bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
