Job Description

Job Summary

The Research Associate (paid temporary intern) assists with CGA’s work on global trade policy.  This position will work across multiple workstreams on a broad range of topics, communicate with project teams on status and progress. The primary in-office days are Tuesday to Thursday, with additional days as required by client demands.
 

Job Responsibilities

Research Associate will have opportunities to contribute strategic ideas to global policy work at CGA and are considered an integral part of the team.

  • Conduct research on international trade and investment policies and prepare draft memoranda for internal and external use by CGA and clients.
  • Close and continuous monitoring of international trade and other major economic policy developments
  • Analyze domestic, regional, and international policy and regulatory issues, and assist in the design, development, and implementation of strategies to help shape them.
  • Proactively report to team members on key policy and regulatory trends to support CGA client service strategy. Attend think tank events, briefings, Congressional hearings, and industry meetings to produce summary reports for external and internal use.
  • Track key developments and activities among industry, civil society partners and associated firms to assess potential opportunities for public engagement.
  • Draft memos, presentations, talking points, briefing books, leave-behinds, and other materials to support internal client strategy development and external advocacy.
  • Prepare and support engagements between business executives, top government officials, and civil society leaders in the United States and around the world.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external audiences, regarding matters of a complex nature. Requires ambitious, organized, resourceful, and tenacious in their research engagements.
  • Knowledge of MS suite to produce quality written communications such as memos, spreadsheets, slides, and standard work documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.  Possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines, daily requirements and overlapping client projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; some graduate studies or graduate degree preferred.

Experience

Position requires a proven track record of strong academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in international trade, economic policy, public affairs and/or global affairs.

Additional Information

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. The pay range for this position is $25.00/hr. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
