Finance Clerk

The Finance Clerk for Persons Supported is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all transactions involving the person supported’ s accounts that EVC has been selected as representative payee. This position also is responsible for creating period transaction reports for people supported, families, and management.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Processes and ensures that all disbursement requests and deposits agree with the individuals Individual Support Plan (ISP). As well as EVC policy and enters into accounting software.
  • Obtains proper supporting documentation for all individual’s supported funds disbursements.
  • Attends Circle of Support and ISP meetings when relevant.
  • Maintains control of food stamp cards and tracks purchasesfor supported/independent living individuals. Maintains an organized file for each individual supported.
  • Communicates with Home Managers and Management when balances in accounts are greater than $1,500.
  • Completes Medicaid waiver applications and re-applications, food stamp applications as well as social security paperwork needed to obtain benefits
  • Creates, maintains and updates yearly budgets for each individual supported annually and as needed.
  • Trains operations staff on receipt submittal to client finance office.
    Consider a variety of enabling technology in a person supported’ s life, thinking creatively about technology persons may already have available. (smartphone, tablet) Envisioning enabling technology to be autonomous in day-to-day activities to develop a person's ability to be independent in their daily lives. (home, community, and employment)
  • Identify person supported needs and interests in technology, community, goals and objectives including employment and volunteer opportunities, memberships, and hobbies.
  • Ensures confidentiality regarding sensitive material including applicant’s, employee’s, and individual’s right to privacy and protected health information, following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance and President.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Commitment to and knowledge of community-based support for individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  •  Knowledge of general accounting principles, including familiarly with the general ledger.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and check writing software.
  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  •  Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  •  Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills.
  •  Ability to work with people in a variety of positions.
  • Ability to work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Occasional overtime required throughout the year.
  • Minimal hazards, general office working conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, handling multiple priorities.
  • May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of one years’ experience in General Accounting.
  • OR an Associate's degree or greater in General Accounting

REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

  • DDA designated online training and any other required training.
  • Person Centered Thinking Training.
  • Emory Valley Center Orientation.
  • Valid TN driver’s license with good driving record.
