Job Description

Summary:

  • Ensure Security protocols are in place, followed, and ingrained into daily operations
  • Ensure Health and Safety measures are clearly communicated and implemented.  Ensure our people are safe and supported. 

People:

  • Work collaboratively with Product Managers and District Manager to set goals and vision for Security and Health & Safety strategy
  • Plan and hold effective meetings with the team.
  • Ensure SOPs and District requirements are clear and communicated proactively
  • Be the premier expert for job functions both within and outside the district
  • Create a world class service while supporting local business priorities
  • Lead with a positive attitude and set an example for others to follow.

 Operations:

  • Security
    • Take the lead on all district security incident investigations, in coordination with Regional and CHQ Security.
    • Support Business Continuity Plan development and testing
    • Manage and operate security systems (Security, Health and Safety Portal, CCTV, intrusion alarm, access control, etc.).
    • Coordinate timely completion (within 90 days) of outstanding Security Corrective / Preventive Actions with appropriate parties, and communicate issues to the District Manager and Regional Security Manager/Director.
    • Facilitate the development of a security-conscious mindset within the district.
    • Own and report on all security-related communication with Expeditors District, Local police department, Customers, Service Providers, Regional / CHQ Security and Cargo Signal Teams
    • Drive CTPAT program and/or local AEO / WCO program.  Run validation visit using the CTPAT Validation Process Flow Chart.
  • Health & Safety
    • Manage implementation of all applicable local compliance to Health and Safety procedures, laws, and
    • Communicate our Health and Safety requirements in a professional and friendly way.  Encourage and promote best practices to keep our people healthy and safe.
    • Manage Health and Safety systems (fire alarms, extinguishers, forklifts etc.; related Health and Safety items) as required.
    • Own reporting and management of workplace safety incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis and risk mitigation.
    • Keep District management and sales up to date on new health and safety initiatives, changes in local laws and regulations, training material and health and safety related information provided by the Regional Safety Manager/Director.
    • Perform Risk Assessments of all facilities in order to identify hazards and mitigate risk to employees and visitors

Customer

  • Maintain a pro-active customer attitude at all times.  Customers are our actual clients (external) and Expeditors personnel (internal).  We are 100% committed to customer service at all levels.
  • Manage and or participate in the RFQ process when needed
  • Maintain and perform quarterly scheduled scorecard reviews of all critical areas of the relationship
  • Ensure all service provider complaints / compliments and calls are entered in the CRM (Company Relationship Management), shared with the service provider and follow up on resolution actions

 Finance:

  • Constantly drive service improvements to create efficiency of operations and lower costs
  • Recognize that health, safety, and security requirements can and should help us run a better business. 
  • Provide assistance in resolution of claims and disputes; credit and collections.

Compliance:

  • Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and in being the role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
  • Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.

  • Constantly work towards systems integration using all practical means (EDI, FTP, CSV, or other non-standard means of sharing information systematically).

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Expeditors company policies and procedures knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of our market and competition
  • Learn and become an expert in Expeditors operating systems as well as excel, visio, process mapping, access.

Skills:

  • Stellar interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word etc.).
  • Ability to create/write and articulate business plans.
  • Demonstrated desire to provide excellent customer service

Training Requirements:

  • Meet company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
