The Vice President, Group Media Director (VPMD) at Exverus is a client leader, a team leader, and a guide. The VPMD leads all areas of Exverus’ Media Strategy, Planning, Buying, and Analytics on a daily basis and is responsible for the overall quality of the team’s work and the value the agency brings to its clients. Teaming with the client to establish media objectives, the VPMD directs the development of the comprehensive media strategy, guiding the identification of the most effective channels and media mix. The VPMD is not only an agency leader, but a leader in the media community serving as an agency ambassador.

- Delivers presentations with skill, diplomacy, and an ability to “read the room”
- Curates an extensive knowledge of all media and industry trends; committed to enhancing the skills of the staff through on-going education and training for best-in-class media plan development
- Keeps clients and agency aware of new, relevant, and significant developments in the industry; serves as a resource for ongoing learning and development
- Strategizes with an analytical approach and in-depth knowledge of both traditional and digital research resources; understands ROI and can provide the client with a basis for measurement of the media plans delivered
- Collaborates with the Head of Operations to identify media research, planning, buying, and analytic tools and technology
- Lead development and adherence to process, identifying areas where process is needed to run teams more efficiently and effectively
- Collaborates with the Managing Director and SVP Strategy to direct the department’s personnel to optimize efficiency and performance
- Constantly seeks ways to improve/manage the department and business relationships in a fiscally responsible manner.
Specific Tasks
- Provides strategic oversight and input to the media team to implement and manage media plan development, negotiation, execution, and metrics tracking
- Works closely with clients end-to-end from strategy through reporting deploying expert client leadership and management skills
- Manages and maintains day-to-day client relationships expectations, and clients’ relevant issues proactively creating solutions and resolving issues
- Lead development and adherence to process, identifying areas where process is needed to run teams more efficiently and effectively
- Act as lead for Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) process w/ Brand & Agency Partners
- Offers meaningful insights and input into existing and emerging media opportunities to staff and clients informally and formally (i.e., POVs/presentations, white papers)
- Actively seeks and applies new and innovative ways of thinking to problem solving; resulting in imaginative ways to enhance final product
- Oversee integration of creative thinking through brainstorming into the planning process
- Motivates and mentors AMDs, Media Supervisors, Media Planners, Assistant Media Planners in the production/submission of all deliverables
- Leads team in the development of new business presentations, RFP responses, SOWs, etc.; is an active member in new business pitches; accountable for identifying organic growth opportunities and agency client-retention efforts; identifies and directs new revenue opportunities
- Develops scopes of work for agency services and compensation structures/recommendations with the MD that serve the revenue and profitability goals of the firm
- Hires, manages, develops, and promotes team members; as problems arise in employer-employee relationships, proactively and satisfactorily addresses in keeping with HR best practices and policies to reduce risk and protect Exverus culture
- Fosters an environment of mentorship, continued growth and learning; ensures effective training on all levels, continuously seeking opportunities to educate team, monitors progress at all levels
- Reviews staff performance issues as they arise with direct reports, guides resolution for the best interest of the firm and to decrease risk
- Drives quality of media product through strategic collaboration. Fosters positive working relationships with outside partners, in order to enhance financial performance, firm reputation, work product, client satisfaction, project workflow, and cultivate opportunities
- Differentiates and represents the Exverus brand positively through agency, industry, professional, and community leadership activity
