Starting Salary: $148,862 - $178,635

GGRC is committed to assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead lives of liberty and opportunity. We are looking for an Associate Executive Director who will assist and support the Executive Director in the overall management and leadership of the organization. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this position shall be responsible for the planning, organization, development, and direction of assigned projects and/or departments in accordance with applicable laws, the contract with the California Department of Developmental Services, and the policies of Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC).

Responsibilities

The Associate Executive Director will: 1)  support the Management Advisory Committee (MAC), and other agency staff members, in efforts to increase the efficiency of operations and the development/improvement of the agency’s organizational culture; 2) ensure the tracking, monitoring and coordination of the organization’s compliance response requirements, and; 3) communicate with the California Department of Developmental Services, and other entities as appropriate, regarding these efforts, projects, timelines and reports.

Management/Leadership

  • Serve as the Acting Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Facilitate collaboration, development and information sharing across departments and units
  • Establish practices and policies that create a positive organizational climate and demonstrated commitment to staff
  • Provide leadership, support, and technical assistance to assigned departments, units, projects, committees, workgroups, or taskforces.
  • Develops and implements program tracking systems; provides reports on activities and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Identifies areas requiring policy decisions or revisions, develops and recommends policy utilizing a variety of methodologies (e.g., staff input, surveys, focus groups, etc.) for consideration by the Executive Director.

State Government Relations/Contract Administration

  • Develop, track and administer GGRC’s attention to Regional Center Performance Measures, as defined by DDS
  • Develop and administer performance contract with DDS that is meaningful and reflects the priorities of GGRC
  • Review and prepare various reports and summaries for submission to GGRC’s Board of Directors, DDS and Community Stakeholders
  • Interpret DDS directives and direct regional center personnel in accordance with such directives
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of national and state events, trends and public policy shifts that may impact the services and supports to the individuals served and/or the operation of the regional center

Community/Public Relations

  • Act as a representative for the regional center in the community and at the local, state and national level
  • Develop and maintain a positive public image of the regional center in the community; create change that will increase community awareness and acceptance of individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Seek out and identify input from the community; address issues/concerns
  • Act as a liaison to other health and human service agencies, public agencies, and governmental agencies, on the local, state and national level, build relationships within the community and within the larger state system
  • Maintain all client information as confidential in compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the California Lanterman Act

Other Tasks

  • Additional projects, duties and tasks, as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of business, human services, health, or administration
  • 5+ years work in an upper level management and/or executive/top tier administrative capacity with budgetary oversight in a health or social service-related field
  • Experience in leadership, organizational change initiatives, project management, statutory, regulatory and contract compliance, and cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Lead teams in reaching positive outcomes for those we serve, and in the effective management and operations of the Agency; follow up with direct staff/project leader at key phases to provide feedback and ensure deadlines are being met
  • Encourage understanding and allegiance to the agency’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan
  • Balance mission and legal mandates to ensure continued service provision and on-going operations of Agency
  • Think strategically; develop innovative, new concepts and create strategies to drive agency mission

  • Make self accessible to direct staff to provide information, make decisions, and provide real-time feedback ensuring the continued, timely flow of operations; make self accessible, as appropriate, to all GGRC employees
  • Communicate open and directly with staff
  • Build partnerships and trust through collaboration, active listening and an openness to new ideas
  • Involve employees at all levels and across all functions when gathering input; bring together Agency and community stakeholders that will be affected by a decision or project to help shape it and build sense of ownership
  • Empower staff based on assessment of ability
  • Address performance issues; hold people accountable as needed and reward as appropriate
  • Demonstrate respect and cultural awareness; effectively manage own reactions
  • Value and communicate that all levels of organization impact the people we serve

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a field of business, human services, health, or administration
  • Experience with the Developmentally Disabled population
  • Experience in multi-cultural settings and/or multi-lingual capacity
