Position: Senior Android Engineer

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Responsibilities: Use latest technologies to develop highly innovative consumer mobile products. The Senior Android Engineer will be required to stay at the forefront of new and emerging technologies and rapidly master them to drive innovation and efficiency in Grindr’s code. Specifically, the Senior Android Engineer will be responsible for performance optimization for large, complex applications to provide a smooth user experience, and design applications with scalability in mind. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance elegant mobile solutions. The Senior Android Engineer will be responsible for building Android applications, including proficiency with Programming in Kotlin, managing large codebases and maintaining clean, structured code that is easier to understand, modify, and debug. The engineer will also create technical design documents for Android software solutions, mentor junior software engineers, and conduct code reviews for other software engineers. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to make Grindr the best app it can be for its users. The Senior Android Engineer will be responsible for managing multiple complex projects against deadlines, including effective engagement with cross-functional stakeholders while producing high-quality code. Work directly with quality engineers to identify test cases and devise efficient, scalable testing processes to allow Grindr to run weekly releases. The Senior Android Engineer will collaborate closely with the IOS team, Product Managers, and Grindr’s QA team to build and maintain a fast, reliable application. 

Educ./experience: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, plus two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Senior Android Engineer or in a related position. Experience must include Unix/Linux operating systems, Java, Python, Redis, Android codebase, view binding, and MySQL.
