Range: $75,591 to $86,920

Roles and Responsibilities

- Conduct classroom observations, assessment, and IEP observations of ed specialist candidates (and other teacher candidates) while providing coaching on the TPEs. Observations are conducted throughout San Diego County. This position requires extensive driving.

- Provide counseling advisement and support to new teachers as they navigate the ed specialist intern program with a special focus on retention.

- Support practitioner faculty in course design and implementation.

- Work collaboratively with candidates and Teacher Center faculty to improve the program.

- Support program-related events, such as presentations of learning, faculty design retreats, mentor workshops, and professional development.

- Create needed documentation for CTC accreditation, such as curriculum matrices, assessment plans, and annual reports.

- Market the program and recruit diverse applicants, including from partner schools across San Diego County, and from within our academic coach/aftercare community.

- Support the Teacher Center admissions process by counseling/advising incoming and perspective ed specialists. 

- Support program grants, such as the Local Solutions Grant; support future grant writing.

- Collaborate with SELPA to bring professional development and training to our campus of ed specialist interns.

- Advise course instructors and support course work:

- Provide CAL TPA support

- Provide Classroom Structures Support & Case Management Support

- Engage in continuous improvement to retain teachers in the program.

- Attend intern coursework on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings at the High Tech High forum from 4:45pm to 7:45pm. Support instructors with attendance and classroom set-up. 

Requirements

- Valid CA Clear teaching credential (ed specialist or multiple subjects preferred)

- Master's degree in education or a related field (preferred)

- 3+ years of classroom teacher and/or education specialist experience

- Experience teaching adult learners in the teacher preparation field
