The Media and Communication Officer will play a vital role in supporting HDF’s communication strategy by creating, managing, and disseminating impactful content across various platforms. The role involves social media management, content development, branding, event coverage, and media relations to enhance HDF’s visibility and engagement with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Creation and Digital Media Management
Develop engaging multimedia content, including social media posts, graphics, videos, and newsletters.
Manage and update HDF’s social media platforms to increase audience engagement.
Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos to document HDF programs and events.
Draft blog posts, success stories, and impact reports highlighting HDF’s work.
2. Branding and Public Relations
Ensure brand consistency in all communication materials and digital content.
Assist in the design of brochures, banners, annual reports, and promotional materials.
Support media outreach by preparing press releases, coordinating media interviews, and maintaining relationships with journalists.
3. Event Coverage and Documentation
Plan and execute live coverage (photography, videography, and social media updates) for key organizational events.
Maintain an organized digital archive of media assets for future use.
Support in organizing webinars, conferences, and awareness campaigns.
4. Internal and External Communication
Assist in drafting internal newsletters, emails, and updates for staff and partners.
Support donor and partner communication by preparing impact reports and case studies.
Monitor media coverage and provide updates on relevant trends affecting HDF’s work.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
1–2 years of experience in media, communications, or a related role, preferably within an NGO setting.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Proficiency in Canva and other design programs, as well as video editing tools such as Adobe Suite and CapCut.
Experience in managing social media platforms and executing digital marketing strategies.
Skilled in photography, videography, and content creation for posts and advertisements.
Ability to effectively manage and grow social media platforms.
