 Salary $68000-98000+ Benefits

Position Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements and tax filings for multiple related entities, including the Development Corporation. This role involves budgeting, billing oversight, supervision of the Related Corporations Specialist, and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting and tax regulations. The position also involves staying current with changes in regulatory and GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and file all tax returns (Forms 990 and 1120) in collaboration with the Controller/CFO, ensuring timely submission.

  2. Record journal entries and review financial reports for accuracy and consistency; document and communicate any findings.

  3. Generate monthly financial statements for affiliate entities.

  4. Prepare annual budgets for related corporations at least two months prior to year-end, ensuring finalization before the annual Board meeting.

  5. Accurately file all benefit plan returns (Form 5500), adhering to auditor-prepared PBC schedules and filing deadlines.

  6. Supervise the Related Corporations Specialist, perform annual evaluations, and ensure timely and accurate completion of all related corporate tasks.

  7. Research and document GAAP-compliant procedures applicable to Bayhealth entities as needed by specified deadlines.

  8. Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly and post any necessary correcting entries.

  9. Stay informed on changes to tax regulations, FASB updates, and AICPA guidance, particularly those affecting Form 990 and not-for-profit organizations.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a healthcare setting, including tax return preparation and financial statement development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field

  • CPA Certification

  • 5+ years of general accounting experience, ideally including work in both for-profit and not-for-profit hospital environments, with a strong background in tax preparation
