Job Description

This Position is Contingent with Contract Award – Role is based on the Coast of Africa. 

The post is in support of a US Government Facility on the Coast of Africa. You would have the privilege of working in an environment that offers countless opportunities for career and personal growth. 

This role will be pivotal in supporting US Government operations. You would be part of a close-knit team that embraces challenges and fosters a culture of learning and excellence. Using skills and expertise that you have honed will contribute to the success of future missions. 

The Pathologist would represent International SOS on this US government facility. The company will be looking for an individual who is an experienced Pathologist to diagnose diseases by examining tissues, cells, and organs, utilizing laboratory techniques and clinical information to provide accurate and timely interpretations that guide patient management and treatment decisions. Pathologists collaborate with other medical professionals to enhance patient care through their expert analysis of specimens.  

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Examine and diagnose tissue specimens and cellular samples to identify diseases, including cancer and other pathological conditions. 
  • Conduct autopsies to determine cause of death and gather information for medical investigations. 
  • Collaborate with clinicians to discuss diagnoses, provide insights on treatment implications, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. 
  • Prepare and review pathological reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in communication of findings. 
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, quality control measures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Stay updated with advancements in pathology and related fields through continuing education and professional development. 
  • Supervise and train laboratory staff, including residents and pathology technicians, in diagnostic techniques and laboratory procedures.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.    
  • Valid US Passport with at least 6 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.  Applicants with current clearances are preferred.  
  • Must be able to relocate for the duration of the project. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
