Nursing Department Manager - Cardiovascular OR

JL Consulting Group LLC has partnered with a healthcare client that is seeking a dynamic and experienced Nursing Department Manager to lead our nursing team and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all nursing operations, including staffing, quality assurance, compliance with healthcare regulations, and the development of nursing practices and policies. You will work closely with clinical staff, administrators, and other healthcare leaders to foster an environment that promotes excellence in patient care and staff engagement.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will be instrumental in driving quality improvement initiatives, optimizing resource management, and enhancing nursing performance through training and development efforts. Specific job overview: This position will manage the Cardiovascular Operating Room Department. It is a 5 OR suite with approximately 35 direct reports, they average 200 cases/month.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid nursing license (RN) in the state of practice, CA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • At minimum candidate needs to have 5 years of FT equivalent operating room RN experience in an acute care setting. Experience must be current or very recent. Not accepting surgery center experience or Cath Lab experience. CVOR experience preferred but not required.
  • At minimum candidate needs to have 3 years of FT equivalent RN Manager or Supervisor experience. Charge Nurse experience doesn’t meet this requirement (many times referred to as Clinical Coordinator experience). Experience must be current or very recent.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards of care.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate nursing staff.
  • Experience in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MSN.
  • CNOR.
  • Management experience in a union environment.
