Position: Education and Employment Specialist 3- Full Time
Location: Peabody, MA
Rate of Pay: $21.38 per hour; plus a $40 additional bi-weekly stipend for fluency in Spanish
Schedule : 40 Hours per week; Monday-Friday between 8:30am-4:30pm with flexible Hybrid Options
Summary:
- Join our innovative and passionate team to inspire students. Use innovative technology such as virtual reality and other platforms as tools to facilitate and engage students. Teach small groups in schools and community settings, helping an array of neurodiverse students ages 14-22 gain pre-employment transitional skills to better prepare them for the job world or post-secondary education. Main responsibilities of this position entail teaching and engaging students with self-advocacy, job exploration, workplace readiness skills, work-based learning experiences (internships) and post-secondary education. You will work with school personnel, higher education programs and community employers building strong partnerships to support these students with their pursuits. Qualifications:
- High School/GED or Hi-SET plus 1-2 years related experience OR Associate’s degree plus 1 year related experience and/or training.
- One year of human service experience desired.
- Knowledge of and respect for diverse populations.
Requirements:
- Experience working with high school students preferred.
- Experience as a camp counselor and conducting education AI groups
- Interest in working with high school students with disabilities in navigating life skills to better help themselves as they move through the stages of high school
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently preferred, but not required
- Ability to use computers to include Microsoft Word, data entry, email, and internet essential.
- Must have a valid driver's license, 3 years driving experience, good driving record, use of vehicle and willingness to transport participants in personal vehicle.
- Must be able to travel within the region to access residential settings, employers, offices and community organizations.
