Your mission: 

As our Senior Game Designer, you’ll help develop and deliver high-quality gameplay features and assemblies for our AAA projects, across our high-profile co-development partners. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing game and/or level designs and iterating on them into high-quality playables for our partner’s game. You will also be acting as an interface between our design and engineering teams, by helping develop, iterate and maintain new features and tools before they are deployed to the rest of the team. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking ownership of player character core mechanics, controls and character camera, making a plan for how they should be used to drive development towards the vision laid out by the Lead Designer
  • Create game systems that answer the needs of the client with regard to the targeted experience for the player, with valued expertise in level and/or technical design
  • Supporting in the creation of game levels/scripting that support the overall vision of the game
  • Implementing available mechanics, triggering actions, setting us basic camera work and NPC/combat encounters for the general progress of a level
  • Act as an interface between our design and engineering team, and support with technical expertise on the topic and ensure the tools, documentation, technical support and dissemination of best practices 
  • Help test new features and tools before they are deployed to the rest of the team
  • Designing systems that allow players to plan and execute varied strategies 
  • Working with production and the team directly to ensure the outcome of your work is to a release-quality standard
  • Communicating frequently with both internally and externally on progress, scope, quality and risk
  • Fixing game or level design bugs entered into the database by our QA team

What we need from you:

  • Wealth of knowledge of contemporary games and design solutions that you can use to galvanise your designs and share with your team
  • Extensive experience working within the games industry, with experience working on/contributed to 1+ AAA titles for console and/or PC 
  • Have worked in a technical design, level design or scripting capacity
  • Experience in prototyping gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine Blueprints
  • Excellent verbal, written and diagrammatic communication skills and experience with wiki-based design documentation
  • Good project management and time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, all while maintaining a positive outlook
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate in technical language 
  • Experience in utilising JIRA task management
