At Knix, we are building a world-class People Team, and as a result, we’re looking for a dynamic leader who can manage multiple streams within the People Operations function. This exceptional leader will manage a team executing on all facets of people operations, our workplace and employee experience, including our office management, and expertly advising and overseeing our employee relations and HR Business Partners supporting employees across Canada and the US.
The Director of People Operations (Retail) will partner with the Director of Talent Acquisition and the VP of Retail Operations team to drive an exceptional employee experience. This role will report to the Chief of People and will manage a team of specialists.

About the Role:- Partner with the Chief People Officer and the People Leadership Team at Knix to refine North American human resources structures, objectives, programs and metrics to achieve the company goals each fiscal year
- Continuously innovate and lead the team to deliver programs that enhance the employee experience, provide competitive advantage, and align to business strategy and Knix’s values and business objectives
- Use strong project management skills to deliver timely execution of people and culture action plans aligned with the strategic business goals
- Provide expertise on delivering HR-related reporting, legal requirements, compliance, and occupational health and safety concerns for Canada and the US
- Collaborate with Business Partners, and expertly lead the development of policies and programs such as compensation, benefits & recognition strategies that support increased employee retention and engagement
- Expertly advise and collaborate with Business Partners on employee relations, including progressive discipline, employee grievances, and terminations, while executing on escalated, severe or senior job-level concerns
- In collaboration with the Chief People Officer and Business Partners, oversee the development and execution of annual review cycles, goal-setting, 9BOX, and HiPO talent programs Is accountable to the success of the office management, workplace experience and the execution of various employee engagement initiatives and internal events led by the Workplace Experience Specialist
- Is an advocate for creating an inclusive environment and diverse teams by expertly advising and guiding on policy and programs to ensure programs are free of bias and applied equitably
- Lead the Retail side of the People Operations team, ensuring they are highly engaged, building towards our long-term strategy, efficient, executing on goals, and within budget
- Execute company-wide performance management programs that encourage a high-performance culture and drive continuous, transparent feedback
Qualifications:- Professional Designation or post-secondary education in Human Resources
- 2-3 years of experience in an HR Leadership capacity as a Director, or Senior Manager of a People/HR function
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, with proven expertise as an HR Business Partner
- Previous experience in a Retail environment is required
- Previous HR oversight at a high-growth organization which has scaled to over 800+ employees
- Experience developing & implementing HR strategies that support business objectives
- Knowledge of relevant Canadian and US employment legislation, policies and practices, specifically around benefits, compensation and employee relations. (North American required, with global experience preferred)
- Experience with compensation reviews and pay equity strategies
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion in HR practices and policies.Proven analytical and problem-solving experience to resolve issues effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; Strong verbal, written, presentation and influencing skills
- Proficiency in HR systems including HRIS (we use HiBob), data analytics and external measurement platforms
We are a hybrid work environment which requires 3 days in office each week. Priority will be given to those who live within the Greater Toronto Area (no remote candidates will be considered)
