Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Position Overview
Lead all environmental, health, and safety programs for two NYC sites, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while driving continuous improvement in safety culture and environmental performance.
What You’ll Do
- Own the EHS function – plan, budget, and direct department activities across both sites.
- Ensure 100 % compliance with USEPA, USCG, NYSDEC, OSHA, NYC DEP, FDNY, and corporate standards.
- Regulatory interface – prepare and submit permits, reports, and filings; serve as primary contact for inspectors and agencies.
- Project leadership – manage capital and O&M projects from scope through close-out.
- Audit & improve – conduct internal assessments; develop corrective actions to elevate safety and environmental performance.
- Emergency response – lead spill and incident response teams.
- Site-wide safety champion – oversee contractors, toolbox talks, and training to maintain a zero-incident culture.
- Cross-functional partner – collaborate with operations, maintenance, and external consultants on EHS matters.
What You’ll Bring
- Education – B.S. in Engineering or related field.
- Experience – 5 + years in EHS management with proven project-management success.
- Regulatory mastery – working knowledge of CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, OPA 90.
- Certificates – ability to earn all required FDNY Certificates of Fitness; valid driver’s license.
- Skills – strong communication, data analysis, and the initiative to work independently.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Able to work overtime, respond to off-hour emergencies, and travel overnight for training.
- Comfortable in office, lab, rooftop, boiler room, and outdoor environments in all seasons; able to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass respirator fit/physical testing.
