Tax Disputes team offers extensive experience in resolving tax disputes while maintaining a positive relationship with Inland Revenue. We assist with assessing uncertain tax positions, preparing and filing voluntary disclosures, managing contentious risk reviews and audits, responding to information requests, handling time-bar waiver requests, managing statutory disputes processes, and negotiating settlements to mitigate penalties.

  • We seek a senior tax professional with at least 5+ years of robust tax experience, enriched by significant exposure at Inland Revenue or within a high-stakes tax disputes and/or tax rulings team at a leading accounting or legal firm. Day to day you will:
  • Manage tax disputes on behalf of KPMG clients with Inland Revenue.
  • Obtain tax rulings from Inland Revenue on behalf of KPMG clients.
  • Work in close coordination with KPMG client service teams to deliver optimal tax dispute and tax ruling outcomes for KPMG clients.
  • Set up and manage engagement costs.
  • Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and managing expectations.
  • Help junior team members develop through effective supervising, coaching, and mentoring.


What you'll bring to the team:
  • At least 5+ years of tax experience with significant exposure to managing tax disputes and/or obtaining tax rulings.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effective coaching.
  • Exposure to business development and networking.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Collaborative and inclusive team player.
  • Client-focused and commercially aware.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in non-revenue investigations or disputes.
  • Technical analysis of binding ruling applications.
