The Ceph Foundation is a thriving open-source community that advances the development and adoption of Ceph, the premier open-source software-defined storage platform. The Ceph Foundation is seeking a dedicated Ceph Community Manager to nurture and grow our vibrant community, ensuring its continued success and sustainability.
As the Ceph Community Manager, you will be the face of the Ceph community, fostering collaboration and growth among contributors, users, and stakeholders. This role involves coordinating community-driven initiatives, overseeing onboarding processes, and supporting Ceph-related events and projects. Accountable to the Ceph Foundation's governing body reporting directly to the chair, you will collaborate with contributors from around the globe to strengthen the Ceph ecosystem.

Key responsibilities include:
Community Growth & Engagement
Identify opportunities to engage new contributors and community members.
Develop and improve onboarding materials and processes for new contributors.
Create strategies to retain and empower contributors, promoting long-term engagement.
Collaboration & Representation
Act as the primary liaison between the Ceph community, the Ceph Foundation, and partner organizations.
Represent the Ceph Foundation’s mission and goals at conferences, webinars, and other global events.
Facilitate collaboration across companies and individuals contributing to Ceph.
Content Creation & Communication
Develop blog posts, podcasts, and videos to showcase Ceph innovations and community stories on the Ceph website and social media.
Regularly report on community metrics, initiatives, and developments to the Ceph Foundation and broader community.
Event Planning & Budget Management
Organize flagship events, including Cephalocon and virtual meetups.
Collaborate with the Ceph Foundation to allocate and manage the annual community budget.
Conflict Resolution & Governance
Address and mediate community disputes or complaints in collaboration with the Ceph Foundation’s leadership.
Ensure the Ceph community maintains an inclusive, supportive, and transparent environment.
Proven experience contributing to an open-source community, preferably Ceph or a similar large-scale project.
Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking, technical writing, and creating digital content.
Solid understanding of software development processes and distributed storage technologies.
Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience planning events and managing budgets effectively.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and coordinate volunteers and contributors across diverse teams and organizations.
