Head of Finance & Operations

We are looking for a Head of Finance & Operations to drive the company forward and help us build and launch our new action-packed combat-focused MMO developed in Unreal Engine and Core. Our headquarters are located in San Mateo, CA and this role will require ~20% time on-site.

Responsibilities

• Own the financial model and prepare comprehensive financial reports and board materials for senior management and the board.
• Collaborate with executive team and provide strategic financial analysis to drive business decisions including projections and analysis of live ops costs and marketing.
• Spearhead investor relations with the CEO, including audit and information requests.
• Own finance and accounting operations in collaboration with outsourced accounting team (e.g. month-end close, invoice processing, sales tax and VAT returns, payroll processing, and cash management).
• Handle cap table management, insurance renewals, and financial policies.
• Drive and assist with annual tax and audit processes.
• Manage and administer total compensation including benefits, equity plans, and 401k plans.
• Complete annual compliance activities including 409a valuations, non-discrimination testing, etc.
• Run HR and recruiting operations with the CEO, including onboarding new hires, offboarding employees, administering leaves of absence, and managing immigration procedures.
• Review, draft, complete, and manage legal agreements with help from outside counsel where necessary.
• Complete patent and trademark filings with outside counsel.
• Complete secretarial duties including state and country registrations and annual reporting (state and federal).
• Maintain and manage office facilities (e.g. process incoming mail, office maintenance, daily coffee and lunch orders).
• Manage and approve procurement of software and hardware in collaboration with IT.

Requirements

• 8+ years working in strategic finance and operations at a fast paced startup.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting and finance and an understanding of how finance drives impact for an organization.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating legal agreements.
• Experience managing HR and recruiting operations.
• Proactive problem-solver with a roll up the sleeves attitude who is comfortable navigating constraints to get things done.
• Low ego - no job is too big or small to drive the company forward.
• High level of attention to detail and a track record of following through on commitments.
• BS degree in Finance or a related field.

• M&A and/or fundraising experience.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now, NetSuite, Tipalti, Teampay, and Carta.

$160,000/year to $240,000/year

A reasonable estimate of the current US base salary range for this position is salary (the range listed above) + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within that range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skill sets, experience and training, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include discretionary bonus (if any, based on individual and organizational performance), equity, or benefits.
