Job Description

NBCUniversal, in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, is home to a Media Prep team that is a group of innovative and highly skilled technicians that oversee the inbound and outbound digital delivery of NBCUniversal content. The Media Prep team is responsible for ensuring content is sourced, prepared and fulfilled to numerous outlets including Broadcast Television, Digital Downloads, Video On Demand, Web Video, International Clients and more. 

NBCUniversal is seeking a Media Operations Specialist. In this role you will be part of a 24x7 driven and highly motivated team that supports the fulfillment of media content to NBCUniversal’s distribution outlets.

As a Media Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for a hybrid skillset that encompasses all aspects of the digital supply chain: Ingest, Prep, Quality Control, and Delivery to clients all around the world. This role requires focus and determination to execute and distribute assets properly and in a timely manner while maintaining the department goal of 99.999% reliability and availability.

This role is that of an individual contributor, requiring all the qualifications needed of a Media Operations Technician, with an added layer of responsibility to act as a point of escalation, not only for the technicians on the team, but also other departments within NBCUniversal.

The Media Operations Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute Technician workflows timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with departmental training initiatives including new workflow rollout and new hire onboarding/training.
  • Serve as an escalation point to technicians on the team.
  • Liaise with other Technical Operations departments to ensure successful fulfillment and delivery of assets.
  • Troubleshoot issues to resolve urgent, in the moment matters as well as implement workflow changes to avoid the same problem in the future.
  • Assist with departmental projects such as testing and implementation of new systems or procedures.
  • Assist with creation, publication and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the operation achieves and exceeds its reliability goals and service level agreements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a broadcast, postproduction, or digital media prep environment
  • Minimum 1 year experience on Non-Linear Editing Systems (Premiere, Avid, Final Cut Pro)
  • Experience in closed caption conforming and syncing preferably in MacCaption
  • Prior experience working with digital media file types -QuickTime, MXF, MPEG, Mp4 etc.
  • A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations

Desired Characteristics:

  • BA/BS in relevant field or equivalent relevant professional experience required
  • Knowledge and understanding of various digital formats, codecs, industry standard tools
  • Prior technical experience with media asset management and workflow systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital broadcast and production technical systems, standards and processes
  • Proven ability to adapt and learn both internal proprietary and third-party applications
  • Detail-oriented and motivated team player with the ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • Proven ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish a plus

Additional Job Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Englewood Cliffs, NJ
  • Must be willing and able to work on any shift including, overnights, swing or weekends in support of the 24/7 operation, sometimes on short notice
  • Must have unrestricted employment authorization in the US
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
