The Internship
As a Market Analysis, Residential Products intern for Summer 2025, you will lead a critical project focused on future-proofing the residential solar and storage market. Your work will directly impact the success of new product development, including how the company navigates micro and macroeconomic market trends.. Reporting to the Residential Product Lead, you will collaborate with Product, Product Marketing, and Business Development Teams as you dig into research, formulate insights and provide recommendations.

Market & Consumer Analysis (40%)
- Define and quantify Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) for the entire US residential solar and storage market , through analyzing future market evolution
- Conduct in-depth research on the residential solar and storage market, through the lens of different client profiles including consumer preferences, adoption trends, and financing models.
- Evaluate the competitive landscape, profiling key players (including new entrants), their service offerings, business models (including Virtual Power Plants - VPPs and grid services), pricing strategies, partnerships, and their resilience to economic changes
Future-Proofing & Strategic Recommendation (60%)
- Assess the influence of federal government policy changes, the US macroeconomic climate, and emerging programs on the residential solar and storage market
- Model various impact scenarios and analyze their effect on our potential market, considering technology adoption, policy impacts, macroeconomic conditions, and potential market share shifts due to bankruptcies
- Identify emerging trends that could shape the future of residential solar financing and storage
- Synthesize research findings to develop actionable insights and strategic recommendations, focusing on long-term opportunities and risk mitigation
- Present findings to the Product and Business Development Teams to inform strategies
Who You Are- Analytical and research-driven, with a passion for renewable energy and market strategy.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Strong communicator, able to translate research into clear business recommendations.
Experience You’ll Need- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Renewable Energy, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in market analysis preferred.
- Ability to work with data, conduct competitive analysis, and identify key industry trends.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides).
Experience That’s a Plus- Knowledge of residential solar financing models (e.g., loans, leases, PPAs).
- Experience with financial modeling or business case development.
- Familiarity with the US solar and energy storage industry, including regulatory trends.

Program Details- We plan to have this role start around the beginning of Summer 2025 for two months
- Ideal working hours would be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm PST
- You will work on 1-2 well-defined projects throughout the internship and will present at the end of the program
Compensation- We believe in recognizing and valuing the contributions of every intern and are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone is compensated fairly for their work
- Compensation: Our internships offer a competitive hourly wage of $20 per hour. Interns will be paid biweekly and are expected to work 40 hours per week, based on program requirements and availability.
