The Patrick J. PJMF works in partnership with public, private, and social institutions to drive progress on our most pressing challenges, including digital health, climate change, broad digital access, and data maturity in the social sector.
We are looking for an early career People and Culture Associate who can join the PJMF team to work closely with our People Team and other foundation leaders in support of our mission. The Associate will ideate on and build new Human Resources programs to support our goal of making the foundation an exceptional place to work while fostering a culture that inspires the world’s most passionate talent. The People and Culture Associate will also play a key role in project-based work in support of the full employee lifecycle.
The People and Culture Associate will also be a part of the Rising Leaders Program. This two-year professional experience provides exposure across the Foundation and the broader field of philanthropy while providing a holistic professional experience centered on mutual learning, growth, and innovation. The Associate cohort will take part in a leadership-oriented curriculum that will equip them with the necessary skills to advance a career in philanthropy and social impact. Over the course of your tenure, our team will work with you to identify the next step in your career journey, and upon completion of the program, PJMF will work to support you to continue a legacy of social impact beyond PJMF.
Things you’ll do in your first year:- Participate in and lead no less than 3 hands-on human resources projects in the areas of recruiting, onboarding, learning and development, total rewards, or HR compliance.
- Work alongside the Vice President of People to learn and shape our People Team strategy.
- Complete Form I-9 as needed and verify I-9 documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of the performance review process.
- Assist with recruitment and interview process. Track the status of candidates in the ATS and respond with follow-up communications to close out our recruitment cycle
- Schedule meetings and interviews in support of PJMF vacancies.
- Coordinate, take notes, and project manage action items for People Team projects.
- Participate in meetings, translate team ideation and input into internal and external facing documents.
- Write recommendation memos for newly created human resources programs.
- Draft presentation materials (slide decks, documents, external communications, internal communications, graphics, etc.)
- Work closely with the Operations Team in support of onboarding and offboarding workflows.
- Support the creation of knowledge products and maintain our knowledge repository, including performing research on special topics that will advance PJMF’s work.
- Gain exposure to other areas of PJMF and the philanthropic field through the Rising Leaders for Equity Program.
What you need to be successful:- Study in the areas of human resources, business management, I/O psychology, or equivalent professional experience in a related field
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas about human resources concepts, including sourcing, recruiting, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, or total rewards.
- Passion for building and executing projects with a high degree of initiative
- Consummate relationship builder with an interest in learning in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to transition between independent, project-based, and team-based work with ease from a digital location outside of an office.
- Effective team player who appreciates the value of a highly connected and hands-on team.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven learner who is able to conceptualize creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills.
- Capability to analyze and distill observations, ideas, and feedback into team notes, memos, and visual presentations.
- Proficiency in G-Suite applications, including Google Docs, Forms, Slides. Canva, Social Media
- Demonstrated understanding or interest in the use of standard HRIS platforms.

What we offer:- Compensation – We anticipate the starting salary range for this role to be $65,000, with flexibility based on graduate-level applicants.

- Long-term Rewards – Our 401(k) retirement plan includes generous matching of up to 6% of annual pay, plus an additional discretionary match at the end of the year.

$65,000 - $70,000 a year
PJMF is committed to fair and transparent compensation practices. Our salary ranges are informed by market data from peer organizations in our sector. Our salaries are competitive and equitable and align with peers in the same job group. Final offers are determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. Because salary ranges are small and the internal parity review is thorough, offers are firm.
