PopWheels is revolutionizing the way New Yorkers move by providing a cutting-edge battery-swapping solution for eBikes and electric micromobility. Our mission is to make electric mobility convenient, accessible, and sustainable by deploying a network of battery swapping cabinets across New York City. As we expand, we're looking for a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as a Locations & Deployments Manager.
The Locations & Deployments Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end project management of deploying our battery swapping cabinets throughout NYC. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills and a passion for urban mobility. You will work closely with city officials, property owners, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful and timely installations in alignment with PopWheels' growth strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Site Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify and secure optimal locations for new cabinet installations.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other third parties involved in the installation process, ensuring they meet PopWheels' quality and safety standards.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all cabinet deployment projects across NYC, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all deployments comply with local zoning laws, building codes, and other relevant regulations. Work with legal teams to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for deployment projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Reporting & Analysis: Monitor and report on the progress of deployments, providing regular updates to senior management and recommending improvements where necessary.
- Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise during the deployment process, from logistical challenges to unexpected delays, and develop contingency plans to keep projects on track.
- Experience with project management: You should already have experience in project management, ideally in a logistics, construction, or urban infrastructure setting. You should have a high degree of comfort in PM tools and processes and be able to handle many different projects at once.
- Comfortable working in a startup environment. We’re a small company with huge ambitions. This means processes are still being figured out, tools are still being developed. You’re comfortable with uncertainty and making decisions quickly and can figure things out even when they’re not exactly your job.
- Passion for urban micromobility and/or delivery work. You should be really excited about electric mobility and its possibilities, and the chance to reshape how the city works, especially for its delivery workers.
- Strong communication & negotiation skills. You’ll be dealing with contractors, government officials (low-level and high-level), landlords, building managers, coworkers, and more. We need to know that you can get things done and get good value for money.
- Things we’d love to see but are not hard requirements include: Familiarity with NYC zoning laws, building codes, and permitting processes; familiarity with electrical systems (possibly even a light engineering background)
- Equity in an early-stage, high-growth startup
- Medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance
- 401k
- Paid parental leave
- Flexible PTO
