The Managing Director, Corporate Valuations at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated professional to assume a wide range of responsibilities to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Managing Director, Corporate Valuations should be prepared to work within a small, collaborate team environment to manage discrete work streams.
Responsibilities- Work with the Portage Point team (Associates to Managing Directors) and our clients to develop comprehensive valuation solutions
- Lead multiple engagements and develop relationships through best-in-class execution
- Lead valuation analysis on a wide range of illiquid investments broadly distributed across industries and geographies while using accepted and relevant approaches and theory
- Interview clients, including face-to-face meetings, to gather data and pertinent information
- Design financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction and option pricing analyses
- Report and present analyses and conclusions both verbally and in written reports
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering high-quality, tailored solutions and providing proactive strategic advice
- Make significant contributions to marketing and business development efforts by participating in strategic branding initiatives to highlight the practice's capabilities
- Manage existing client relationships as well as pitch new business to both existing and new clients
- Curate a personal network that will result in a consistent book of business and increased practice line revenue
- Collaborate closely with performance improvement, office of the OCFO, turnaround & restructuring and investment banking colleagues
- Provide professional development coaching to junior team members
- Share and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required
- Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts
- Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture
Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics from a top undergraduate program
- Located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia
- Invested in a team-based culture motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
- Minimum two years experience constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models including: DCF, comparable company, commodity contracts / forecasts and other intangible asset models
- Ability to thrive in a lean, collaborative team environment
- §High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, private equity sponsors, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers
- Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting
- Eagerness to be responsive at all times
- Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette
- Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail

$550,000 - $900,000 a year
The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
