Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in construction management (CM), construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, seeks an onsite Mechanical Engineer to prepare design documents and/or scopes of work for Design/Build services and construction work.
Responsibilities & Duties- Responsible for the engineering analysis, development, design of and the preparation of complete plans and specifications for new work and improvements.
- Provides technical oversight and evaluation concerning all engineering disciplines as they pertain to all project work.
- Independently responsible and accountable for determining the action necessary in the development and completion of design projects, coordination of a project staff which may include architects, engineers, engineering technicians, draftsmen, and clerk/typists and review of the final contract documents.
- Surveys existing job conditions and confers with requesting medical center personnel to determine exact scope of project, phasing, impact on other medical center services and other specific design requirements.
- Determines how project(s) will impact medical center based on results of a risk assessment that could have a severe impact on patient care.
- Provide decisive direction in regard to business, technical and project management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities for healthcare infrastructure upgrades.
- Responsible for the overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost and schedule.
- Maintain daily progress reports and inspection reports and shall lead the inspection and quality assurance team assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective project oversight.
Qualifications & Skills- Licensed professional engineer (Mechanical Engineer) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.
- Experience with healthcare infrastructure construction projects.
- Able to quickly understand and master the requirements of local, state, and federal jurisdictions and their application to the requirements of the project.
- Possess Communication, Language, and Software Skills with the ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
- Professional experience shall include the ability to read and interpret construction documents, as well as communicate effectively with project construction team members.
- Experience on healthcare projects/facilities shall be preferred.
$100,000 - $115,000 a year
