Job Summary:
The Esthetician is responsible for performing a variety of treatments designed to increase, improve or maintain the health and appearance of the skin. The Licensed Esthetician may perform a wide spectrum of services, from simple facials, chemical exfoliations and waxing; to laser hair removal, microdermabrasion and make up application and other procedures as directed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Warmly and professionally greet patients and visitors.
- Answer telephone calls; take message; give routine information in accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately communicate information to patients and to staff in a concise manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of activities, policies and procedures, and promotional activities.
- Participate in staff meetings; attend relevant educational activities at the request of supervisor.
- Maintain competency on computer system (scheduling, registration, account research, etc.)
- Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Schedule, coordinate and reschedule patient appointments.
- Reliable source of patient information regarding procedures/products and able to confidently field patient questions regarding all facets of the practice, including qualifications of physicians and staff, quality of products, and policies and procedures.
- Explain offices financial policy and insurance policy to patients clearly.
- Monitor, clean and maintain equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Report and record technical issues with equipment.
- Provide assistance to front desk as needed.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Assist with laundry.
- Assist with make-up applications, proper sanitation of cosmetic tools and work station.
- Maintain treatment rooms and work areas in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain Spa ambience in treatment room.
- Determine patients skin care goals and objectives, recommend products and services to facilitate the patients goals.
- Maintain the patients medical record detailing all treatment procedures, elective products, medication history and educational materials distributed.
- Seek advice and supervision from physician, as required, on treatment protocols and notify Spa Manager/Medical Director of any patient non-compliance.
- Provide esthetic skin care services to patients, such as, chemical peels, waxing, dermaplaning, dermasweep and micro needling.
- Keep treatment rooms well stocked with supplies and clean linens.
- Provide safe environment in treatment rooms for patients and staff.
- Stay up to date on new products and services offered.
- Knowledgeable on rewards programs and how to facilitate them.
- Assist with event planning.
- Adhere to universal precautions.
- Proper sterilization of equipment.
- Any other duties as required to ensure operations are successful.
- Be a state licensed esthetician, in good standing;
- Two years experience working as an esthetician;
- Possess a wide range of knowledge of skin care treatment, elective services, and products;
- Have some word processing and computer experience;
- Possess a calm, reassuring, competent demeanor and the ability to be sensitive to patient needs and attitude;
- Be knowledgeable of business office procedures and communication procedures;
- Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
