Quona 2025 Summer Intern - Global

Opportunity Overview

Quona Capital is a venture capital firm investing in financial technology companies in emerging markets. We are looking for a high-performing professional to join Quona's newly formed Global team during the Summer of 2025 for a 10-week internship period.

In terms of location, we'd like the intern to be largely based in New York City working directly with our global lead based there, and expect the intern to spend at least a week working from our headquarters in Washington DC alongside our Managing Partners and the Operations Team. The internship could provide 2-4 weeks of remote flexibility to accommodate specific circumstances for exceptional candidates.

The intern will work directly with Quona's global investment team on various aspects of the investment process of new companies, set up scalable process for the global team's coordination, and lead high quality research that contributes to the fund's global strategy. The role will have direct exposure to high-energy entrepreneurial and VC ecosystems, and close collaboration with Quona's partners and senior team members. This role will collaborate with Quona's global team and portfolio of investments across Latin America, Sub Saharan Africa, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.

Quona's Global Team

Quona global is a new investment strategy being rolled out by the fund to find entrepreneurs based in global centers of capital and tech talent such as New York, London, San Francisco, and Singapore, building high-potential global businesses that have emerging markets as part of their core expansion strategy. With this strategy, we're primarily looking to find companies that can scale seamlessly and solving replicable problems across geographies, with huge impact potential in Emerging Markets. We'll primarily focus on software-enabled industries within the Fintech realm such as B2B SaaS, Cybersecurity, Cross-Border Payments, and Fraud & Identity, amongst others.

Role Responsibilities

• Directly support the investment team members to conduct business, financial, and technology due diligence, helping move deals to close.
• Develop financial models and company valuation analyses.
• Conduct thematic research and competitive deep dives within fintech sub-sectors across multiple geographies.
• Assist in designing and setting up scalable processes and systems to ensure the team can scale effectively in a global challenge. Challenges include sourcing, data processing, news filtering, and key relationship and stakeholder building and maintenance.

Desired Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a top tier MBA program, or similar advance degree program related to the Venture Capital industry like Finance, Machine Learning, or Computer Science.
• Enthusiasm for technology, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and investing.
• Team player mentality - ready to support the team in achieving collective goals.
• Drive, hunger, humbleness, adaptability, curiosity and openness.
• Exceptional analytical skills and desire to produce consistent top-tier quality work.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced team that is geographically distributed.
• Excellent English business writing and communication skills.
• The position is open to multiple previous backgrounds. The ideal candidate has 4-7 years of experience either:
• Evaluating investment opportunities - ability to quickly identify and analyze the key questions, risks, or upsides to an investment.
• Identifying and implementing strategic, commercial, and/or operational improvements in fast-paced environments directly in scaling or scaled companies, or indirectly within a high-performing management consulting group.
• Launching an entrepreneurial endeavor with clear objectives, plans, and initial traction - either as founder or early employee.
• Experience working in multiple geographies will be viewed as a plus.
• Experience setting up systems and leveraging AI will be viewed as a plus.
