The Director of Accounting will play a pivotal role in managing the accounting function, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and upholding internal policies. Reporting directly to the Controller, this leader will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, drive process improvements, and support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical accounting background, a proven ability to manage and develop teams, and a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Oversight:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general accounting, inventory, and payroll, while fostering the professional growth of the team.
- Collaborate with the Controller and CFO to ensure financial accuracy and the timely completion of accounting activities.
- Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Review reconciliations for accuracy and proper documentation, driving continuous improvements in processes.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial reports and management reports for executive leadership.
- Close Process Management:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring reconciliations and journal entries are accurate and completed on time.
- Process Improvement & Automation:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
- Lead system enhancements or upgrades, collaborating with IT to ensure scalability and support for company growth.
- Drive automation initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Operations, Legal, and Tax teams to provide accounting expertise on financial transactions and strategic initiatives.
- Support the Controller in advising senior management on financial strategies, policies, and operational efficiencies.
- Compliance & Audit Management:
- Ensure compliance with department policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.
- Oversee annual audits and address findings or recommendations.
- Monitor internal control procedures, evaluating their effectiveness and documenting controls and processes.
- Special Projects:
- Handle special projects and perform other duties as assigned to support company objectives, as well as the CFO.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in medium to large organizations (revenue of $500M+ preferred).
- Extensive experience with U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven success in managing and developing high-performing accounting teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Annual base pay: $160,000 - $210,000. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications.
